Attik Update - Weak-Signal Reliability, Inspector License Numbers on Forms & Styles & Materials Template Tools (Report Writer & Mobile App)

Summary

  • The report writer stays responsive on weak signal, and queued changes send on their own when signal returns

  • The camera no longer fires on its own, freezes on zoom, or adds duplicate photos, and the Outbox recovers stuck items

  • Fill official forms with the inspector's license number, and copy, move, convert, and rename Styles & Materials items and headings in report templates

  • Send hidden-section photos to PDF form photo pages, and keep inspector helper text off client reports while it shows in the app

  • Separate Auto checked, Required comment, and Option required settings, with required comment counts that follow them in the app

  • Section numbers stay fixed, completed reports keep their template outline, and PDFs and client reports print more cleanly

New Features

Inspector license numbers on official forms

What changed: An official form text blank can now fill in the job inspector's license number straight from their staff profile. When an inspector holds more than one license, choose which one prints: the one matching the property's state, a specific state, or a certification type.

Where to find it:

  1. Open Configure official form and select a text blank.

  2. Choose Inspection info, then Job field, then Inspector license number.

  3. Pick Match property state, Specific state, or Certification type.

Setup:

  1. Make sure each inspector's licenses are entered under Licenses & Certifications on their staff profile.

Copy and move Styles & Materials items

What changed: Template authors can copy a Styles & Materials item to any section or subsection, rename the question, and keep all of its choices, or move one or several items at once instead of retyping them.

Where to find it:

  1. Open a report template in the template editor.

  2. On a Styles & Materials item, choose Copy or Move (select several items to copy or move them together).

  3. Pick the destination section or subsection. The items are added at the end of its list.

Convert comments to Styles & Materials

What changed: Comments with two or more options and no narrative can be turned into a section Styles & Materials field with the same options, one at a time or in bulk. Spectora imports now bring in a "Styles and Materials" subsection like any other subsection, so you choose what to convert.

Where to find it:

  1. Open a report template in the template editor.

  2. Open a comment and select Convert to style and material, or select several comments and choose Convert to S&M.

Most-used comments rise to the top

What changed: Comment lists are now ordered by how often your company uses each comment in that spot, so a plumbing list is sorted by what gets used on plumbing. Rankings are per company and never shaped by other companies' use, and a company setting turns frequency sorting off.

Where to find it: No new screen. Comment lists in the report writer reorder as your team uses them.

Export template comments to CSV with usage counts

What changed: Download a CSV of a report template's comments, including section, subsection, title, type, whether it starts checked, and how many times each comment has been used. Handy for cleaning up templates and auditing Spectora migrations.

Where to find it: Open a report template and use the CSV export for that template.

Rename the Styles & Materials heading per section

What changed: Template authors can give each section its own heading for the Styles & Materials block, up to 24 characters, so the block can hold things like inspection details under a heading that fits. The online client report shows the new heading in every report style, and sections without one keep "Styles & Materials". The mobile app and PDF are unchanged.

Where to find it:

  1. Open a report template in the template editor.

  2. Open a section and find its Styles & Materials fields.

  3. Type the heading you want. Leave it blank to keep "Styles & Materials".

Hidden-section photos on PDF form photo pages

What changed: A section hidden from the client report can now send its photos to a PDF form's additional photo pages, so termite (WDI) forms can carry the required graph and photos. The section stays hidden from the client report. The setting is off by default.

Where to find it:

  1. Open a report template and open a section's settings.

  2. Turn on the setting to include this section's photos on PDF form photo pages.

  3. Make sure the form has Additional photo pages turned on.

Improvements

Separate Auto checked, Required comment, and Option required settings

What changed: Each template comment now has three settings you can combine: Auto checked starts it on the report, Required comment is met when it's checked (no photo needed), and Option required is met when at least one option is picked. Required pre-checked comments no longer block completion or show Needs attention.

Where to find it:

  1. Open a report template in the template editor.

  2. Open a comment's settings and turn on Auto checked, Required comment, and/or Option required.

Setup:

  1. Existing required comments carry over automatically: ones with options become Required comment plus Option required, and ones without options become Required comment. Review templates where you want something different.

Required comment counts follow the new template settings

What changed: Section counts and Needs attention now follow the template's Auto checked, Required comment, and Option required settings. A required comment that starts checked counts as done without any extra step, and one set to Option required counts once an option is picked.

Where to find it: Section counts and Needs attention in a report.

Photos and videos are prepared in the background

What changed: After you take or pick a photo or video, the app saves it right away and prepares it in the background before uploading. If preparing fails, it retries instead of uploading the original full-size file.

Where to find it: No new screen. Progress shows in the Outbox.

The report writer stays responsive on weak signal

What changed: On weak or patchy signal, picking comments and moving between screens no longer lags or goes black. Styles & Materials picks show right away, a report you opened before still opens without signal, and queued changes send on their own as soon as signal returns.

Where to find it: No new screen. Takes effect after the update.

Inspector helper text stays off client reports

What changed: A section's Description is now called Inspector helper text. It shows only to inspectors in the app and no longer appears on the client report or PDF. Overview text that had been copied from it is cleaned up.

Where to find it:

  1. Open a report template in the template editor.

  2. Open a section and fill in Inspector helper text.

Inspector helper text shows in the app

What changed: A section's inspector helper text now shows at the top of the section when you open it. Long text shows two lines, and you can tap to see the rest.

Where to find it: Report outline, open a section.

Process comment no longer waits on video

What changed: Tapping Process comment right after recording a video no longer leaves the screen looking frozen. The video finishes preparing in the background.

Where to find it: Process comment on a new comment.

Styles & Materials options as tappable chips

What changed: In the web report writer, Styles & Materials options now show as chips instead of dropdowns, matching the mobile app. Tap to select, tap again to clear, and use + to add a custom answer.

Where to find it: Report writer, in a section's overview panel.

Section numbers stay put when sections are removed

What changed: Each section keeps the number from its place in the template. Removing a section leaves a gap (for example 1, 2, 4) instead of renumbering everything after it, and finding numbers follow the same section number.

Where to find it: Published web report and the full and summary PDFs, which now show the same numbers.

Completed reports keep their template outline

What changed: When a report is completed, it saves the template outline it was written with. Later template edits no longer shift finding numbers, subsection names, or the overview grid on completed reports. Reopening a report refreshes it on the next completion.

Where to find it: No new screen. Applies to reports completed after this update.

Overview subsections work like every other subsection

What changed: Subsections named "Overview", "Section Overview", or "General Information" are no longer treated differently. The overview grid lists every subsection so its numbers match finding numbers, and these subsections can now be set as optional.

Where to find it: Published web report and PDF overview grid, and the section drawer in the template editor.

Bug Fixes

Camera no longer takes photos on its own

What changed: Opening the camera with the phone's volume all the way down or all the way up no longer snaps a photo by itself on Android. The volume-button shutter also works reliably again.

Where to find it: Report camera.

Applies to: Existing and future records

Changing zoom no longer freezes the camera

What changed: Changing zoom with the buttons or by pinching no longer freezes the camera preview, and the next photo uses the chosen zoom. Pinch-zooming a saved photo no longer freezes the app.

Where to find it: Report camera and the photo viewer.

Applies to: Existing and future records

Faster checkmark and no duplicate photos on Android

What changed: The checkmark after taking a photo is ready within a second or two on Android, and tapping it more than once adds the photo only once.

Where to find it: Report camera, after taking a photo.

Applies to: Future records only

Photos stay upright in report thumbnails

What changed: Photos are made upright once when captured or imported, so thumbnails, Edit photo, and the client report all match. If a photo can't be made upright, you'll see an error for that photo.

Where to find it: No new screen. Takes effect after the update.

Applies to: Future records only

Annotating several photos keeps every drawing

What changed: When you annotate several photos in a row on a comment, every photo keeps its drawing and can still be edited when reopened.

Where to find it: On a comment, Annotate, then Next, then Done.

Applies to: Future records only

Voice typing no longer doubles words

What changed: Dictating into a photo caption, location, or comment title on Android no longer repeats words.

Where to find it: Defect comment screen, in the caption, location, and title fields.

Applies to: Future records only

iPhone videos are compressed before upload

What changed: Videos recorded or picked on an iPhone are now compressed before uploading, so long or 4K clips no longer fail as too large.

Where to find it: No new screen. Takes effect after the update.

Applies to: Future records only

Picking a library comment of a different type saves correctly

What changed: Picking a library comment of another type (for example an Info comment on a defect capture) now saves and lands on the report instead of getting stuck in the Outbox. The comment library opens on the comment's own type.

Where to find it: Browse comment library on a comment.

Applies to: Unclear from release evidence

Custom comments open and stay put

What changed: Tapping Custom reliably opens a new custom comment, and Android back no longer deletes a custom comment without asking.

Where to find it: Custom on a subsection's comment list.

Applies to: Future records only

Two phones on one report no longer duplicate a comment

What changed: When two phones pick options on the same comment at the same time, the report keeps one comment with both phones' picks.

Where to find it: No new screen. Takes effect after the update.

Applies to: Future records only

Deleted sections and comments stay deleted

What changed: Sections and comments you delete or uncheck no longer come back on their own, including when two people edit the same report or a queued sync retries.

Where to find it: No new screen. Takes effect after the update.

Applies to: Existing and future records

Outbox stops retrying items that can never save

What changed: Items the server permanently rejects, such as a pick on a comment that was since removed, are marked failed instead of retrying forever and holding up the rest of the queue.

Where to find it: AI Suggestions, then Outbox.

Applies to: Unclear from release evidence

Outbox shows only the open report's items

What changed: On work orders with more than one report, the Outbox now lists only the open report's items, and Retry all failed only retries that report.

Where to find it: AI Suggestions, then Outbox.

Applies to: Existing and future records

Styles & Materials checklists no longer repeat in every subsection

What changed: On templates imported from Spectora, Styles & Materials checklists no longer show up as extra info comments at the bottom of every subsection.

Where to find it: No new screen. Takes effect after the update.

Applies to: Existing and future records

Camera zoom no longer freezes on Samsung S23 and S24

What changed: Zooming in the camera on Samsung S23 and S24 phones no longer freezes the preview.

Where to find it: Report camera.

Applies to: Future records only

One photo per shutter tap

What changed: The shutter waits until a photo is taken before accepting another tap, and extra taps on the checkmark are ignored, so you no longer get a burst of extra photos.

Where to find it: Report camera.

Applies to: Future records only

The same photo no longer shows twice on a comment

What changed: When the phone re-sends a photo it already uploaded, the comment keeps one copy instead of two.

Where to find it: No new screen. Takes effect after the update.

Applies to: Future records only

Quick-captured photos no longer get stuck in the Outbox

What changed: Photos taken in quick succession no longer retry forever in the Outbox with a server error when the photo was already saved.

Where to find it: AI Suggestions, then Outbox.

Applies to: Unclear from release evidence

Photo captions and edits stay put while photos sync

What changed: Captions and photo edits are no longer wiped out while other photos on the comment are still syncing.

Where to find it: No new screen. Takes effect after the update.

Applies to: Future records only

Annotating several photos on an existing comment keeps every drawing

What changed: Taking or adding several photos with Annotate on an existing comment now keeps the drawing on each photo.

Where to find it: On an existing comment, Annotate, then Next, then Done.

Applies to: Future records only

Edits to a confirmed comment sync when you leave the edit screen

What changed: Changes to a confirmed comment now sync when you go back or leave the edit screen, not only when you tap Confirm comment, so the web report and teammates see them.

Where to find it: Comment edit screen.

Applies to: Future records only

Moved comments show in their new place

What changed: A comment moved to another section with the Section dropdown now shows up fully in its new section.

Where to find it: Section dropdown on the comment edit screen.

Applies to: Future records only

Switching reports no longer blanks a comment

What changed: Leaving a comment's edit screen after the app switched to another report no longer erases that comment's narrative and location.

Where to find it: No new screen. Takes effect after the update.

Applies to: Future records only

Confirmed comments that never reached the server are recovered

What changed: Confirmed comments that were stuck on the phone and never reached the server are now sent, so they appear on the report.

Where to find it: No new screen. Takes effect after the update.

Applies to: Unclear from release evidence

Suggested comments from an optional section add correctly

What changed: Picking a suggested comment from an optional section the report hasn't switched on now adds that section and the comment instead of failing.

Where to find it: Suggested comments after a capture.

Applies to: Future records only

Report progress counts offline work right away

What changed: Styles & Materials picks made offline now count toward the outline's progress right away, without waiting to sync.

Where to find it: Report outline progress.

Applies to: Future records only

Offline comments show "Waiting for service"

What changed: Opening a comment that hasn't been sent yet while offline now shows "Waiting for service" instead of saying the AI is still processing.

Where to find it: AI Suggestions, then Outbox, under comments in flight.

Applies to: Future records only

Offline status bar no longer shows a Retry that does nothing

What changed: While offline, the status bar on Overview Media and Styles & Materials no longer shows a Retry button that did nothing.

Where to find it: Overview Media and Styles & Materials screens, while offline.

Applies to: Future records only

Offline photos no longer count twice in the Outbox

What changed: Adding a photo to a confirmed comment while offline queues one upload instead of two, so the Outbox count is accurate.

Where to find it: AI Suggestions, then Outbox.

Applies to: Future records only

Bold text prints cleanly in the PDF

What changed: Bold text in comments, titles, and labels now prints crisp and clearly bold in the PDF.

Where to find it: Any exported report PDF.

Applies to: Existing and future records

Formatted comment text no longer prints black in the PDF

What changed: Formatted comment text now prints in the same gray as other body text unless the author picked a color. Bold, links, and chosen colors still show.

Where to find it: Any exported report PDF.

Applies to: Existing and future records

Section Overview shows choices, limitations, and photos

What changed: The Section Overview block on the published report now shows each comment's selected choices, narrative, and photos for information, limitation, and defect comments. Limitations placed there now appear on the report, and the heading uses the template's own subsection title.

Where to find it: Published web report and the edit arrows on the report.

Applies to: Existing and future records

Reports show only the final narrative

What changed: The client report and PDF now show the narrative the inspector kept, never substituted AI text. A narrative is no longer required, so you can clear it with the edit pencil and the comment still shows its title, choices, location, and photos.

Where to find it: Published web report, PDF, and the edit pencil on a comment.

Applies to: Existing and future records

Vimeo videos show a preview image on client reports

What changed: Vimeo links on client reports now show the video's preview image, the same as YouTube links.

Where to find it: Published client report.

Applies to: Existing and future records

Saving a comment on the web keeps captions edited on the phone

What changed: Saving a comment in the web report editor now only sends the photo captions you changed, so it no longer puts back an old caption an inspector just edited on the phone.

Where to find it: Web report editor, saving a comment.

Applies to: Future records only
