Separate repair list edit access from report access for internal users

Objective

  • Users are asking to limit some internal people—such as trainees or reviewers—from editing the repair list on an inspection report (adding, removing, or changing items, saved lists, and related actions), even when those people are still allowed to open and work with the report or report template for training, QA, or internal review.

Background

  • Users have reported that when more than one report exists on a work order, or when internal staff use a training-oriented report alongside the main client report, the same people can end up in a position to change the client-facing repair list when the business only intended them to practice or review the report itself.
  • They want finer control: view or use the report without being able to change repair list data that clients and agents rely on, without turning off report access entirely.

Why it matters: This reduces the risk of accidental or inappropriate edits to client repair lists while preserving access to the report for coaching, training, and quality workflows.

Outcome (user-facing)

  • A clear, admin- or role-based way to make repair list edit permissions stricter than report access for selected internal users or roles, so teams can match policy to how they onboard and supervise staff.
